Ellipsis and Cleft Sentences

 

Guidance will be given to enable you to (a) clearly see the linguistic structures of the following expressions; and (b) readily produce expressions with such structures.
To ensure your success, adequate examples will be further provided with clear explanation.

 

Ellipsis

    • I didn't touch the TV set, but Percy might have Δ .
    • He will come later, if Δ at all.
    • I know we have not yet set the record straight, but we will Δ .
    • Somebody ought to help. Shall I ask Peter to Δ?
    • I won't disturb you again unless I have to Δ .
    • She borrowed my pen, although I asked her not to Δ.
    • That letter was the last Δ I ever received from her.
    • My own camera, like Peter's Δ, is Japanese.
    • I'll do what I can Δ .
